    BSAC students above Ocean Diver level should provide proof of BSAC membership to proceed with your course.
    All BSAC students must also make sure to bring all the relevant course materials if purchased in the UK, especially the unique reference number. Without this number your instructor will be unable to certify you and BSAC may not process your diver card or acknowledge your diver level.

    BSAC Snorkel Courses

    Snorkeling is great fun, easy to learn and an ideal way to build up confidence in the water. It is accessible to anyone - young or old - and is an enjoyable way to get the whole family involved.

    For younger members of the family, snorkeling is also a great introduction to underwater sports and can be their first step towards learning to dive.

    BSAC’s snorkeling courses are open to children from the age of six – starting with our Basic Snorkel Diver and progressing to Snorkel Dive Manager or Snorkel Instructor.

    You can complete a BSAC snorkel course on holiday and you can learn to snorkel to discover the amazing underwater sights the Maltese coastline has to offer.

    BSAC Basic Snorkel Diver

    A member of the BSAC who is trained to use basic snorkeling equipment - mask, fins and snorkel.

    BSAC Snorkel Diver

    A Basic Snorkel Diver who has progressed with pool training to be proficient in basic snorkeling skills and assessed as ready for open water snorkeling. On completion of training, the student should be competentin the safe and correct use of mask, fins and snorkel for surface snorkeling and brief breath-holding dives, in warm water.

    BSAC Ocean Snorkel Diver (minimum age of 8 years)

    A member of the BSAC who has achieved the status of Snorkel Diver, and has received further training to take a full and active part in open water snorkeling activities, including rescue techniques and further advanced exercises. On completion of training, this diver should be competent in the safe use of all appropriate open water snorkeling equipment including protective clothing and should be able to act as one of a buddy pair of snorkeler's.

    BSAC Advanced Snorkel Diver

    A member of the BSAC who has achieved the status of Ocean Snorkel Diver, and trained to have a greater level of theoretical knowledge in all aspects of snorkeling and having broad practical experience of snorkeling. The Advanced Ocean Snorkel Diver should know how snorkeling skills might be applied to specialist activities.

    BSAC Experience Scuba

    After some training in basic dive skills and learning something about dive techniques and equipment you will dive in confined water with a BSAC qualified instructor to make sure you get maximum enjoyment from your first scuba experience. After this course you'll know if diving is the sport for you and if it is, you could then go on to start the BSAC Ocean Diver course.

    BSAC Ocean Diver

     This course is your first step into the world of scuba diving and will result in a certification that is recognised worldwide. It's a challenging yet fun combination of theory and practice where you learn to use your equipment properly and safely. Once you've completed this course you really are a diver and you can join our daily diving trips. BSAC Ocean Divers are qualified to go on dives with similarly qualified divers.
    There are 7 classroom lessons, a theory assessment, a swimming assessment, 5 sheltered water sessions and 5 open water lessons. A minimum of 120 minutes will be spent underwater.

    BSAC Sports Diver

     This 4-day course develops the skills learned in the Ocean Diver course building greater confidence and knowledge. You will gain skills and experience of diving in several different conditions. On completion you will be qualified to dive to 20 metres (if you choose to do the post qualification progress dives, the depth is increased to 35 metres) and will have gained knowledge of decompression stop diving. Also your abilities to assist other divers and use Nitrox will be developed. This 4-day course consists of 6 theory lessons, a theory assessment, a sheltered water lesson, 5 open water lessons, and a "dry" practical lesson. The experience gained on this course will add a new dimension to future daily diving trips.

    BSAC Sports Diver Depth Experience

    This 2-day, 3-dive course gives BSAC Sports Divers experience, practice and knowledge of the thrills and risks of diving at greater depth. Through coaching and practice you will learn to dive safely to over 30 metres and then be qualified to dive to a maximum of 35 metres.

    • Depth: progresses to 35 metres

    BSAC Dive Leader 

    As a BSAC dive leader you are becoming an expert in your field. You will be competent in dive leadership & rescue skills and eligible to take BSAC instructor exams (after attending the Instructor Foundation Course). You will be able to plan and lead dives, manage rescue situations and be qualified to dive to 50 metres after progression.
    This course consists of 12 classroom lessons, a theory assessment, seven open water lessons, two dry practical lessons and 20 dives (which may include the open water lessons) in a range of conditions since qualifying as a Sports Diver.
    All practical training includes the achievement of specific performance standards at appropriate points throughout the lessons. The Ocean Diver and Sports Diver courses are biased towards learning skills and knowledge whilst underpinning this with appropriate experience. The Dive Leader course continues to build on these skills and knowledge but the experience element becomes increasingly important. You will therefore dive in a wide variety of conditions to broaden and deepen your experience.
